ATLANTA -- The Braves prevented the Nationals from adding an additional insurance run in the top of the 11th early Sunday morning, as manager Fredi Gonzalez notched his 14th overturned call in 21 challenges this season.
After Washington took a 2-1 lead on a Wilson Ramos RBI single, Kevin Frandsen appeared to have plated three additional runs with a bases-loaded double. Home plate umpire Greg Gibson ruled Ramos had avoided the tag of Atlanta catcher Evan Gattis.
Gonzalez promptly emerged from the dugout and issued his managerial challenge. After a review lasting 48 seconds, it was ruled that Gattis tagged Ramos out. But the overturn proved inconsequential as the Nationals beat the Braves 4-1.
