SEATTLE -- Atlanta starter Alex Wood nearly picked off Chris Taylor at second base in the third inning of Tuesday's Mariners-Braves game, but after a replay, the umpires ruled that the initial safe call would stand.
Taylor led off the inning with a ground-rule double over the head of Braves center fielder Emilio Bonifacio. With Austin Jackson batting, Wood turned and threw to shortstop Andrelton Simmons and nearly nabbed Taylor as he dived back to the bag.
After second-base umpire Brian Gorman ruled Taylor was safe, Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez came out of the dugout and challenged, prompting a review of two minutes and 16 seconds.
Taylor was stranded at second.
