Braves place five pitchers on disabled list


LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Atlanta Braves placed five pitchers on the 15-day disabled list today, retroactive to March 21.

Right-handed pitchers Brandon Beachy and Kris Medlen each had right elbow surgery last week and will miss the 2014 season. Left-handed pitcher Mike Minor (left shoulder tendinitis), right-handed pitcher Gavin Floyd (recovering from right elbow surgery) and left-handed pitcher Jonny Venters (recovering from left elbow surgery) will continue their rehabilitation programs.

Atlanta now has 35 active players remaining in its Major League camp. The Braves begin the 2014 campaign on Monday, March 31, at Milwaukee (2:10 p.m., SportSouth).
