ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves today announced that outfielder Jordan Schafer has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle contusion. Outfielder Joey Terdoslavich has been promoted to the Major League Club after having his contract purchased from Triple-A Gwinnett. Terdoslavich will wear uniform number 25. To make room for Terdoslavich on the 40-man roster, left-handed pitcher Jonny Venters has been transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Terdoslavich, 24, hails from Sarasota, Fla., and is the nephew of former Major Leaguer Mike Greenwell. He was named to the 2013 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and the 2013 Triple-A All-Star Game after hitting .318 (102-for-321) with 18 home runs, 24 doubles and 58 RBI in 85 games this season at Triple-A Gwinnett. He was named the Braves Minor League Player of the Year in 2011 after breaking a 65-year-old Carolina League record by hitting 52 doubles with High-A Lynchburg (.286, 20 HR, 82 RBI).
Terdoslavich was originally selected by the Atlanta Braves in the sixth round of the 2010 June free agent draft out of Long Beach State (CA). He owns a .288 career batting average over four minor league seasons with 49 home runs and 245 RBI.
