The Atlanta Braves and Kroger join forces to Strike Out Hunger

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves and Kroger have come together to help fight hunger in Metro Atlanta with the Braves and Kroger Strike Out Hunger campaign, benefiting the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB). As a resource for more than 600 hunger-relief programs throughout Georgia, the ACFB distributes more than 35 million pounds of food and grocery products each year. Through the Braves and Kroger Strike Out Hunger partnership, fans can help join the mission to feed Georgia's hungry.

Every Friday home game during the 2013 season, fans can receive an autograph from their favorite Braves pitcher just before the game in Monument Grove. A donation of 20 canned items or $20.00 to benefit the ACFB will earn fans a signed autograph from an Atlanta Braves pitcher. There is a limit of one signature per donation. This Friday, April 5, Tim Hudson leads the charge from 6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. at the Braves Strike Out Hunger tent in Monument Grove. Pitchers for the remaining Friday home games will be announced approximately one week prior to the game.

Items that are most in need include peanut butter, canned tuna, canned beans, canned soups, stews and pastas, 100% fruit juice, macaroni and cheese dinners, whole grain and low-sugar cereals.

"Together with Kroger, the Atlanta Braves are proud to give back and bring awareness to such an incredible organization like the Atlanta Community Food Bank," said Braves Director of Community Affairs, Ericka Newsome. "We are fortunate to have a public forum that allows our fans the opportunity to help the hunger issue in their own back yard."

Since its inception in 1992, the Atlanta Braves Foundation has provided support and resources to thousands of metro Atlanta-based organizations and has contributed more than $5 million in financial assistance to the community. Through the generous support of Braves players and staff, sponsors and fans, the Atlanta Braves Foundation continuously strives to improve the quality of life for our youth.
