Kimbrel named September Delivery Man of Month
Braves closer Craig Kimbrel was rewarded for his perfect September on Tuesday, when he was named the Major League Baseball Delivery Man of the Month for the second time in his career.

The right-hander put together a string of 13 consecutive scoreless appearances to take the honor for the first time since August 2011. He is the only Atlanta pitcher to earn the award and the fifth hurler overall to win it in back-to-back seasons.

Kimbrel racked up a 3-0 record in September and converted all 10 of his save opportunities to finish second in the Majors for the month, helping the Braves lock up a National League Wild Card berth. The 24-year-old struck out 25 batters and walked two in 12 2/3 innings, permitting six hits while opponents batted .133 against him.

His month began on Sept. 5, when he punched out four in 1 1/3 innings to nail down a 1-0 Braves win over the Rockies. Kimbrel picked up saves the next two days as well and struck out multiple batters in each of his first six September games.

The third-year pitcher is 3-1 with a 1.02 ERA and an NL-best 42 saves on the season, with 113 strikeouts and 14 walks in 61 2/3 innings.
