Chipper leaves with stomach virus

|
ATLANTA -- Braves third baseman Chipper Jones was forced to leave the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Nationals because of a stomach virus. He is listed as day-to-day.

After grounding out to end the third inning at Turner Field, Jones was replaced at third base by Marcus Giles. This marked the first time Giles had played third since Sept. 29, 2002.

Jones, who contributed a sacrifice fly in the first inning, arrived at the park feeling sick. He didn't take batting practice and walked around the clubhouse in the afternoon with the hood of his sweatshirt covering his head.

The Braves will evaluate him again before Thursday night's series finale against the Nationals. He had a hit in two at-bats during the first game of the twin bill.
