Jeff Porter #

The 2018 season marks Jeff Porter's 34th in the Braves organization and his first as Senior Advisor, Athletic Training.

He spent 15 seasons from 2003-2017 as the Braves' Head Athletic Trainer.

Porter joined the Braves in 1985 as the Assistant Athletic Trainer and assumed the Head Trainer duties in 2003, when Dave Pursley retired.

A native of Wilmington, NC, Porter graduated from Burgaw High School...He received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 1977 and earned his master's degree from the University of Denver in 1979.

Following college, Porter worked his way through the minor leagues...From 1979 to 1984, he had stints with the Denver Bears, Jamestown Expos, Memphis Chicks and Indianapolis Indians.

Porter, 62, was honored as the National League athletic trainer for the 1996 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Philadelphia and for the 2008 All-Star Game at New York's Yankee Stadium...In 2006 he was the athletic trainer for MLB's Japan All-Star Tour.

In 2012, Porter and Jim Lovell were honored by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) as the Major League Baseball Athletic Training Staff of the Year.

Porter is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the American College of Sports Medicine and is a board member for PBATS.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Porter resides in Loganville, Ga...His son, David graduated from Auburn University and now attends veterinary school at the University of Georgia.
